"Okay, okay, sorry," Chuck says quickly, pulling back from her in one abrupt movement, his hands held out in front of him even though she isn't looking in his direction. He's not always sure if Laura is unpredictable or if he's just really terrible at this. Regardless, now isn't the time to try to work it out one way or the other, not when she's upset and he's still a little groggy from having been woken up.

He takes a deep breath, eyes fixed on the line of her back in the dim light of the bedroom. What, if anything, he might be able to do here, he has no idea, but just sitting here doesn't seem like it will do much good. "I can go get you some water or something, if you want."
